It is not exactly understood what, or how, the singularity is.
The singularity refers to the one constant between both universes. The common denominator between the dimensions that keeps them from drifting apart. It may have existed for all of time, or it may have existed for merely one lifetime, or maybe it is immortal and lives throughout multiple lifetimes as multiple lives. There could be more than one, but it is impossible to prove.
However, the only known constant is Persephone.
Persephone, though she was born in Farther Earth, has no home dimension because she was never meant to exist. Because of this fact, Chaos and Balance have affected her life much more often than anyone else in either universe. She unknowingly draws power from both Celestial Beings, which is why this phenomena occurs. She is merely a half-nymph, so the crescendo of events caused by her innate ability to morph reality causes extreme ups and downs in her life.
Dami, after searching for the constant for eons as different lives in different timelines in different realities, realizes that he never had a sister in any reality until this one. Persephone was not supposed to exist, yet she did in this universe. This is how he was able to become Mephisto in Part V - Balance. However, him harnessing Persephone in the first place is what awakens Abaddon in this timeline, because Alex lost the little bit of darkness left within him; he had grieved for Persephone, and promised that he would help her live a normal life, and Mephisto's abuses were getting in the way of that.
Alex's ascension to Abaddon would surprise Mephisto because, in every other timeline Mephisto had seen, Alex had devolved back into a death nymph because he became outraged and used far too much magic, which forced his link to the Underrealm to bring him back.
Persephone's life described by its ebbs and flows between balance and chaos
| She and her brother are born and live peacefully with their family. | |
| Stalix is led to the Black Crusaders by ants. she discovers her father used to be one of them. She runs away. | |
| She meets Loki, and helps her discover and embrace her identity. They become best friends, but eventually drift apart. She takes up the name Persephone to match Loki's. | |
| She begins to abuse her powers to steal money, food, and clothes with pigeons, rats, and squirrels from people in Siverial. She lives like this for a few years. | |
| She is found by Team Hope, and joins up with them to help defeat Antoinette's crusaders. | |
| Team hope is not trusting of her, and she decides to run away again after being called a traitor. She is kidnapped by the crusaders and abused with Anthracaine. In her drug fueled confusion, she was used to spy on team hope under the pseudonym, Kore. | |
| She begins to fight back her new addiction and escapes with Loki's help. She helps defeat Antoinette. She moves to Closer Earth to start a new life. She begins a career as a private investigator, using her abilities and intelligence for the greater good. She meets Jamie, the love of her life. She uses her intellect to help find Soren, and eventually Aiko. Things are great for a while. | |
| Dami kidnaps her and her father (before he figures out she is the singularity) and hides away while he begins to get closer to transformation. He makes them both listen to all of his grievances, and during one of his monologues, he pissed Perse off enough for her to discover she can control more than animals. She used her ability to freeze him in place at first, then made him untie them both. He then realizes that SHE is the missing piece, and Perse now has to fight him for her life, using powers that she doesn't really understand. | |
| The anomalous energies emitted by their fight lead team hope to their location near Connor's gate in the old laboratory, where Dami had taken them both. | |
| Perse is on her last leg, and Mephisto begins to take control of Dami. Perse is killed, and Chaos is born after taking her soul from Underrealm, (which is why Dami was near Connor's gate in the first place, because the underrealm is near the edge of the two realms.) Alex, who has joined team hope's effort against Dami's reign of terror, watches everyone basically lose their shit because Perse died. He sees Jaylo trying to comfort Loki, who is hugging Perse's limp body, screaming in grief, and is reminded of himself. He is suddenly filled with the most emotion and he has ever felt, he experiences all of Team hope's memories, and feels their grief as his own. Mephisto begins to merge the two planes of existence, so his powers can spread to the other realm. Team hope tries to ignore their grief to continue to try and stop the destruction of worlds, but none of their attacks have any effect on them. Dami is struggling for control, because he didn't want to destroy the worlds, he only wanted the power of chaos, and has lost control of his body. |
|
| Alex abruptly evolves into Abaddon. Persephone is brought back from the dead by his sudden burst of power, and She is now stronger than ever. Team hope turns to Abaddon, and Mephisto does as well. Mephisto panics, as he thought his existence here was impossible, and Dami is able to take control for a few seconds at a time, to help stop Mephisto from destroying everything. |
|
| Persephone, enraged that she had been killed, but grief stricken that her brother was now Mephisto, feels completely powerless to do anything to stop him. Abaddon tells her that it is she who must end this fight. She looks at all of her loved ones, her father, and Abaddon, terrified. She never saw herself as the hero. Abaddon vanishes, and Alex collapses. She goes up to Mephisto, who is struggling to hold Dami off, not knowing what to do. She gets a few glimpses of Dami through Mephisto's flames, and he is suffering. She convinces herself that she can't do it. |
|
| Pherenix, also terribly stricken with grief, after just watching his son get consumed by a monster and his daughter die and come back to life, comes back behind Perse, and tells her that she needs to save him. Persphone cries out "I'm so sorry" and kills them using the singularity. Mephisto vanishes, and Dami's limp body falls down, covered in burns and bruises. | |
| The battle is won, but Persephone is completely distraught. She and Pherenix move to Closer Earth and grieve for a few months. Perse hides her grief from the others and tries to live as she used to. | |
| That one short story idea happens, and she gets closure. She accidentally meets Dami's dimensional variant, and Felix as well. They become family. |
