I woke up in a cold sweat.
I sat up in the grass and looked up at the storming sky. There was the occasional fleeting spot crossing the sun. I need to hide.
I got up and trotted towards the trees with my staff before sitting at the trunk of a large oak. My legs are killing me.
I started picking the burs out of my leg's fur and sighed.
Don't think about it, Faust.
It was futile. I can't escape my memories after all.. I can't even look at trees without thinking about what those sylphs did to my wife.. my daughter..
Why not me?
Faust closed his eyes and curled up to his staff, hiding from the violence above, reminiscing.
Something fell through the canopy of leaves and branches in front of him, spilling sunlight onto the forest floor. Faust got up swiftly and hid behind the tree as fast as he could. He hurt himself with the sudden movement and grunted in pain as he fell over.
This is it. I'm going to die.
Faust peeked and saw but a mere nymph. He must have been spared by the sylphs. He had never seen a nymph like this, he hadn't a tail, or horns, or anything. Easily mistakable for a human.
No.. there's something else.
The boy saw Faust. "You. Nymph. Come here."
Faust used his staff as he left the shadow of the tree trunk.
"I found a way to defeat the sylphs." The boy had a grin on his face.
Faust remarked, "You must be crazy."
The boy proceeded to conjure magic the likes of which Faust had never seen before. It absorbed light, created abrupt spikes, no, colors. Colors he had never seen. He was mesmerized.
"This is chaos. I have seen the future with this, and with it, we can end the war. I just need someone from this era to help me."
